Definition: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) consists of a group of hematopoietic neoplasms characterized by clonal stem cell disorders, involving one or more hematopoietic lineages, exhibiting dysplastic morphologies, presenting cytopenia(s), and increasing patient’s risk for acute leukemia (AML).

MDS-U Myelodysplastic syndrome, unclassifiable
Definition: A subtype of MDS which does not fit into any defined category.
Clinical Features: Similar to other MDS patients.
